How Copture helped Sitemark inspect over 2,000 hectares of solar farms with drones and thermal imaging
When a global analytics company needed inspection data from several solar power plants in Sweden - quickly, accurately and without logistical hassle - Copture became their extended arm on the ground. Using our nationwide network of drone pilots and advanced thermal cameras, Sitemark was able to collect critical data from both the construction and operational phases - without having to be on site.
The challenge: Effective data collection without local teams
Sitemark is a leading player in the analysis of solar energy and renewable energy solutions. In order to deliver to their customers, they need regular inspections of solar parks, both during construction and operation. It requires accurate data collection via drones with both visual and thermographic sensors. For example, one of the parks was Hultsfred Solar Park, Sweden's largest facility at 130 hectares and with a capacity of 100 MWp.
But managing separate contracts, pilots and authorisations for each individual PV plant in a new country creates friction.
Sitemark asked itself: How do we collect high-quality drone data from multiple geographically dispersed solar farms - without building a field team in Sweden from scratch?
The solution - nationwide pilot networks in Sweden equipped with thermal imaging
Copture was able to quickly offer an effective response: a network of certified and experienced drone pilots spread throughout Sweden, specialising in drone inspection of photovoltaic installations.
With advanced equipment, including thermal imaging cameras (IR sensors) and high-resolution cameras, we conducted inspections covering both visual inspection and thermal analysis. We managed the entire flow - from planning and collection to quality assurance and delivery.
